Emile Smith Rowe scored on his home debut as Fulham won 2-1 against Leicester at Craven Cottage, earning him the Player of the Match (POTM) award.

Fulham beat Leicester 2-1 at Craven Cottage thanks to Emile Smith Rowe’s goal on his first game back.

Smith Rowe scored his first goal for Fulham in the Premier League with a well-placed finish in the 18th minute.

Even though Wout Faes tied the game for Leicester with a shot, Fulham got their first three points of the season with a goal from Alex Iwobi. This was their first game back after losing late at Manchester United last week.

Adama Traore, who played on the right, helped Fulham get into a rhythm early on. The fast wide player forced custodian Mads Hermansen to make a save with a left-footed shot that went into the bottom right corner. He then created another chance with a clever back-pass.

Traore’s first season in west London was hampered by injuries, but he is now healthy and eager to please manager Marco Silva. Early signs suggest he is a good replacement for Willian, who has left the club.

His good start to the game continued when he helped set up Fulham’s first goal.

Traore moved into the middle of the pitch and skipped past two players before getting past Smith Rowe. In a one-on-one situation, the attacking player kept his cool and put his shot into the corner to give the home team a 1-0 lead.

Calvin Bassey’s missed pass ruined Fulham’s good start and put his team under pressure. Leicester then tied the game from a corner kick in the 38th minute.

Brighton loanee Facundo Buonanotte sent in a beautifully curled corner kick that was met by defender Faes, whose header went into the bottom left corner to tie the game at 1-1.

When the goal was first called off for offside, referee Darren Bond was sent to the monitor to make sure that Jamie Vardy did not get in the way of Bernd Leno’s attempt to make a save.

After halftime, Fulham fans cheered when Bobby De Cordova-Reid came back home as Foxes boss Steve Cooper replaced the winger. When the Jamaican player went to Leicester for free earlier this summer, it ended his five-year stay at Craven Cottage.

Rodrigo Muniz tried a risky bicycle kick at the start of the second half, but it went over the bar. That was the closest Fulham came to adding to their lead until Iwobi scored a clinical second goal in the 70th minute after a well-worked move.

After a fizzed pass to Antonee Robinson, the left back lofted the ball first time, setting up the winger for a shot that went off Hermansen and into the net to win it for Silva’s team.
