Luis Diaz has now scored Liverpool’s first Premier League goal at Anfield for the third straight season.
The Colombian, on his 100th appearance for the club, opened the scoring against Brentford on Sunday, applying the finishing touch to a rapid counter-attack in the 13th minute.
It meant Diaz again got the Reds off and running at Anfield in a top-flight campaign, having produced his team’s home openers in 2023-24 (AFC Bournemouth) and 2022-23 (Crystal Palace).
Thirteen of the forward’s 17 goals in the Premier League have been in L4.
