The Egghead Island Arc of One Piece has continued with great intensity as of late, and fans have been left absolutely ecstatic with its conclusion.
The story arc sealed itself to be one of the best starts to any saga in the series, and that just raises the expectations and excitement for what is to come next. Now, with One Piece chapter 1123 having been released already, fans can come to the conclusion that the arc is now over.
Readers can now look back at this arc and think back on the best moments, and, at the same time, discuss which characters got the most spotlight and shined more than others. Of course, every character had an important role to play in Egghead, but some outshined others in terms of importance, and the performance they put in.
Luffy Was Able To Shine In The Arc In A Major Way
Luffy Was Able To Prove Why He Is A Yonko
The protagonist of One Piece, Luffy was one of the MVPs of Egghead Island. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to any fan because the story is centered around him, and he is going to be the most important character in just about every arc of the story. Luffy is the face of One Piece in every way, and that is how it should be. The main character should always be the most important one, and should be directly tied to any plot that is explored in any arc of the story. It is safe to say that Oda handled Luffy very well in the Egghead Island arc, and gave him a very important role to play.
You’re gonna pay for hurting my friends! – Luffy
Not only did Luffy connect with the Iron Giant, who was directly responsible for the escape of the Strawhat Pirates, but he also did bits all over the arc. He was the one who held Kizaru at bay, and, at the same time, helped both Saturn and the Admiral at the same time as well. When the Five Elders arrived on the island, Luffy was the one who put up the vast majority of the fight against them, and he did so in quite spectacular fashion. Clearly, Luffy was absolutely stunning in this arc, and even though he could not defeat the Elders, he put in quite a show that the fans enjoyed.
Luffy’s role in Egghead might not have had him engage in a major battle that saw him defeat an enemy, but, he proved to be a deterrent against the Navy, the Elders, and much more, even going as far as to fight the Cipher Pol and the Seraphims in the early parts of the arc. Clearly, Luffy was one of the MVPs, and without him, Bonney would most certainly have died, along with Kuma as well.
Sanji Came In Clutch As A Savior On Many Occasions
Sanji Had Some Major Fighting Moments And Saved Many Lives
Quite easily, one of the biggest MVPs of the Egghead Island arc was Sanji. Fans know Sanji to be an incredibly powerful character, and one of the Wings of the Pirate King. Yet, fans did not expect Sanji to shine in such a big fashion in this arc because in the post-timeskip of the series, Sanji has taken a significant amount of the spotlight. Sanji had his own arc dedicated to him in Whole Cake Island, which is rare as far as Strawhats go, as he’s the only one to have two arcs dedicated to him, and after that, fans can say that Wano was arguably even better in some ways for this character, even though most fans had attributed Wano to be Zoro’s arc.
What do you know about the power of love? – Sanji
Sanji was one of the shining stars of Wano, and the way Oda handled his character in this arc was absolutely spectacular. Given that he had two amazing back-to-back arcs with great character writing and succession, fans did not expect Sanji to shine as much as he did in Egghead, but it is safe to say that he was one of the MVPs by far. At this point, fans should simply admit to the fact that Sanji is one of Oda’s very favorites and that he is going to shine in every arc going forward as well. For Egghead Island, Sanji played an absolutely massive role. Not only did he save Nami on two occasions from the Seraphim, but he also had many clutch saves all over the arc.
Sanji rescued Edison, which allowed him to secure a pathway for the escape of the Straw Hat Pirates later down the line, and at the same time, he also protected Bonney on two occasions. Without Sanji, Bonney would most certainly have died as well.
Furthermore, Sanji even clashed with the Elders, going head-to-head with not just Saturn but also V. Nusjuro, being the only character in the entire arc capable of actually damaging him and making him cough up blood. Furthermore, Sanji carried Vegapunk for a significant amount of the arc. Even though Vegapunk ended up dying, it was down to his own volition, as was revealed in One Piece chapter 1123. Vegapunk begged Sanji to allow him to die to trigger the message, and that is what ended up happening. Sanji also saved Bonney and Kuma from Kizaru’s attacks, and it is safe to say that this was an exciting performance from him. All in all, Sanji was a true savior in this arc, as he has always been in One Piece.
Bonney, Vegapunk and Kuma Made The Arc Theirs
Bonney And Kuma Were Key to Egghead Arc
While the Straw Hats certainly did shine in the Egghead Island arc, as is expected, there are other individuals who made this arc theirs as well. Bonney, for instance, was an important character from start to finish, and it is safe to say that she was one of the MVPs of this arc as well. Not only did fans get to see Bonney’s past, but at the same time, her connection to Kuma was also explored. In a way, both Bonney and Kuma were MVPs of the arc. For instance, Kuma went against the Government and even his Revolutionary Army compatriots to save Bonney. He arrived on Egghead just in time and saved her from certain death. Kuma landed a powerful punch on the Elder Saturn, which felt like retribution.
Similarly, Bonney had many incredible moments in the arc as well, especially when she fought against the Elders and took the Nika form herself. Bonney was able to fight back against these monstrous Elders, and it is safe to say that she was absolutely sensational to witness in this arc. Furthermore, fans got to see the Kuma and Bonney flashback, and it is safe to say that it has cemented its place in the top five flashbacks in One Piece.
Of course, then, there is the former Navy genius, Vegapunk, who gave a massive blow to the World Government in this arc. Fans got to witness his many personalities, his genius mind, his inventions, and much more in this arc, and above all, his kind heart was focused on as well. Vegapunk died in this arc, leaving behind York and Lilith as survivors, but he dealt a telling blow to the Government with his message, making him one of the MVPs as well.
