Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is among six nominees for PFA Player of the Year award

Martin Odegaard has made the short list for the PFA Player of the Year award for the second year in a row.

Our captain, who won our club’s Player of the Season award last year, will be hoping to win the prestigious award when it is told next week at the PFA’s ceremony in Manchester. He will have to beat five other competitors, all of whom had great seasons last year.

Last season, the Norwegian was amazing in the middle of the field. He played in 48 of our 52 games across all categories and scored 11 goals and set up 11 others. Ten of them were in the Premier League, which is three more than he scored last season.

Because of how creative he was, he created 88 more chances from open play than any other player in the Premier League. In 35 league games, our captain ran 401 km, which was more than any other player in the division.

His international teammate Erling Haaland is also in the running for the award. He is trying to win his second straight PFA title after winning the Premier League Golden Boot. Phil Foden, a star for Manchester City who has won two PFA Young Player of the Year awards after scoring 27 goals, is also in the running.

Rodri is the last of three City rivals to make the list. Ollie Watkins is also on the list because his 19 goals and 13 assists helped Aston Villa make it to the Champions League for the first time.

Cole Palmer of Chelsea has been named for both the Players’ Player of the Year award and the Young Player of the Year award. Last year’s winner, Bukayo Saka, is an opponent for Palmer, who is also up for the award.
