After 25 years, Eiichiro Oda has finally unveiled the biggest One Piece mystery with the recent manga chapter 1122. With the recent revelation, fans are expecting Luffy to fulfill Joyboy’s dream, which he failed to accomplish during the Void Century.

As One Piece comes closer to the conclusion, viewers are eagerly anticipating Luffy to become the King of Pirates. However, Luffy’s journey may not end with the King of Pirates title, as Oda might have different plans for our beloved protagonist. Through Emet’s flashback, fans can witness Joyboy’s dream to become the King of the World, and Luffy may end up following the same path.

Is Eiichiro Oda Misleading One Piece Fans?

Joyboy was the most feared individual during the forgotten Void Century and his ambitions might have led to the downfall of the Ancient Kingdom. With the long Egghead Island Arc coming to an end, fans witnessed a short glimpse of Joyboy and Emet. We also noticed Emet reminiscing about not helping Joyboy achieve his dream of becoming the King.

With this revelation, we can finally see a lot of resemblance between Joyboy and Luffy. Joyboy was the previous owner of Human-Human devil fruit, a mythical Zoan-type. We already know that the Zoan Devil Fruits choose people based on their personalities; thus, we can guess Joyboy was like Luffy in this regard, who believed in liberating others.

At the beginning of the series, Luffy discloses his true intentions behind his goal of becoming the Pirate King. He believes the man who’s the freest of all becomes the Pirate King; Luffy also clarifies that he doesn’t intend to conquer anything, which is the common misunderstanding people develop after hearing about Straw Hat’s ambition.

Like Luffy, Joyboy may have similar intentions of becoming the King of the World which is to become the freest of all. Although Eiichiro Oda hasn’t revealed anything related to Joyboy, fans believe he wanted to help many races in the world and bring them together with the assistance of ancient weapons.

However, Joyboy’s ambition of becoming King of the World might have misled others into conquering the entire world, which in the end led to a huge war and Joyboy’s defeat. Therefore, fans are anticipating Luffy to fulfill Joyboy’s dream at the end of the One Piece final saga by freeing all races and defeating Imu (King of the World).

Eiichiro Oda reveals the strongest Haki in One Piece

Despite Joyboy’s first appearance in the One Piece universe, it surely wasn’t the highlight of the manga’s chapter 1122. Manga chapter 1122 showcased the strongest Haki in the One Piece universe surpassing the likes of Garp, Roger, and even Shanks. Joyboy’s Haki was so powerful that it made Imu kneel to the ground and let fear take over despite being miles away from the battlefield.

Moreover, his Conqueror’s Haki nullified Imu’s powers and teleported four Elders back to Mary Geoise. Joyboy’s Conqueror Haki was the sole reason Luffy and his crew managed to escape all Five Elders in the Egghead Island Arc. In chapter 1122, Oda once again reminds his audience about the importance of the forgotten Void Century.

Emet’s flashback also hints that Joyboy might be aware of Luffy’s existence; hence, he sealed his strongest Haki inside Emet to help the Straw Hats escape Imu’s devil plans and escape the Egghead Island.
