One Piece Episode 1114 Shows Garp’s True Strength

Monkey D. Garp is a Navy Vice Admiral who has served the organization for several decades. Garp shot to fame in the old era of piracy when the likes of Rocks D. Xebec, Gol D. Roger, Whitebeard, etc. were still active.

Since then, he has garnered the reputation of being the strongest Marine. Many One Piece characters have expressed their admiration for Garp, and there have been a lot of instances where Garp’s strength has been mentioned. However, Eiichiro Oda never really focused too much on showing the character’s strength. Thankfully, the author finally decided to give the audience a glimpse of what the legendary Marine was capable of doing.

Monkey D. Garp’s Attack On Hachinosu

What Compelled Garp To Go To Hachinosu

Monkey D. Garp’s plan to travel to Hachinosu was revealed in the Egghead arc. The Vice Admiral went to the G-14 base, where he met Helmeppo, Koby’s best friend. Garp disclosed that he would sail to Hachinosu to rescue Koby from the clutches of the Blackbeard Pirates. Initially, it seemed that Garp was only being accompanied by Helmeppo and Hibari, as they were the most enthusiastic about saving Koby. It was later revealed that Tashigi, Prince Grus, and Kujaku had also traveled to Hachinosu.

Before Garp reached the island, Prince Grus and Kujaku cornered the pirates inside a town. Their next step of action was to inform Garp about the completion of the first part of the plan. After Garp got the heads-up, he used his fist to propel the ship into the air. While he was still in the air, Garp infused his fist with Haki. Then he charged towards the pirates and unleashed a massive attack called Galaxy Impact. The attack created shock waves that sent pirates flying and caused widespread damage to the surroundings.

How Strong Is The Current Version Of Garp

Garp Remains One Of The Strongest One Piece Characters

Currently, Garp is 78 years old, making him one of the oldest characters in One Piece. Most people around his age would rather stay at home and live an easy life, but Garp is different. He still craves action, and he has the desire to be free. The sample to gauge Garp’s strength is rather small, as he has not been involved in many fights. The first piece of evidence was when Garp launched a massive cannonball with his bare hands. In the Marineford arc, he punched Marco, the First Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, forcing him to retreat. In the same arc, he struck Burgess, a talented fighter in his own right.

The next big moment for Garp came in the Egghead arc, where he destroyed an entire town with a single punch, which is an incredible feat. A couple of things that make the accomplishment more fabulous are that Garp doesn’t even have a Devil Fruit, and the other is obviously his age. If he can cause so much damage with a single punch, it is safe to say that Garp is still above the likes of Admirals, and he is very close to the Yonko.

Will Garp’s Strength Be Enough To Save Koby?

Garp Will Need To Be At The Top Of His Game

Now that Garp’s strength has been established, the important question is whether he can take Koby and leave Hachinosu in One Piece. The biggest threat to Garp and the Marines is Kuzan, who is an ex-Admiral. He joined the Blackbeard Pirates sometime during the time-skip. To rub more salt into the wounds, Kuzan is Garp’s former student. It is never easy for a teacher to fight his pupil, so it will be something worth remembering. It could cause Garp to hold back, or he might be overcome emotionally, leading to an opportunity for Kuzan to strike.

Koby is the future of the Navy! — Monkey D. Garp

As a former Admiral, Kuzan is not to be taken lightly. He has incredible Haki control, as evidenced by his ability to fight an opponent for ten days while having an elemental disadvantage. Aside from his Haki, Kuzan is also a Devil Fruit user. His Hie Hie no Mi allows him to freeze anything that he wants. The ability is dangerous, as one wrong move could lead to death. In the past, Kuzan has used his Devil Fruit to freeze many people, and so far the easiest way to break out of it is by using Conqueror’s Haki. Thankfully, Garp has access to Conqueror’s Haki, so it won’t be a problem for him to break free.

In One Piece Episode 1115, Kuzan and Garp will go all out and show where they both stand in terms of strength. The odds are in Garp’s favor, but if the Blackbeard Pirates get involved, things could change drastically. The Titanic Captains are no pushovers, and they could cause some serious damage if they let loose. Garp will have to rely on the young blood with him and hope that they can prevent any kind of interference. Needless to say, the result of this fight will turn the world upside down.
