One Piece chapter 1122 almost felt like it marked the conclusion of the Egghead Island arc, and that might truly be the case.
The war on Egghead is finally over, with the Straw Hat Pirates on their way to Elbaf with the Giants. At the same time, the Gorosei have finally been sent back to the Holy Land of Marijoa as well. This chapter was packed full of incredible moments, which were rather spectacular, to say the least. Much of the attention was put on Emet, the Iron Giant, and his past with Joy Boy.
Fans got to see Joy Boy for the very first time in the series, and at the same time, an extended dialogue from him was presented as well in the form of a flashback of Emet, moments before he unleashed his trump card and shut his eyes forever. Of course, this trump card was then revealed to be Joy Boy’s Haki, which was extremely overpowered, to say the least.
How Joy Boy Sealed His Haki In Emet The Iron Giant Long Ago
Joy Boy Used A Special Knot To Store His Strongest Haki Inside Emet
In One Piece chapter 1122, fans finally saw what Emet’s trump card inside of him was. Long ago, Joy Boy entrusted him with a trump card to use only when the time was right. In this week’s chapter, it was clearly revealed that Joy Boy always protected Emet, no matter what. It might be that Emet was actually a part of his crew. Fans don’t exactly know what role he played next to Joy Boy or on his pirate crew, but what they know for sure is that Joy Boy kept him safe at all times.
However, Joy Boy wouldn’t live forever. Emet, on the other hand, could stand the test of time due to being a robot. This is precisely why Joy Boy wanted to give him something to keep him safe. Essentially, Joy Boy decided to seal his most powerful Haki inside of Emet. He mentioned Emet should only use this power when the time is right, which meant that only when he was in need of help or when someone he wanted to protect was in need of help.
Only when the time is right, Emet. Use it to protect yourself or someone in need of help. – Joy Boy
It is unknown how exactly Emet was deactivated 200 years ago, and why he reactivated 200 years later when he heard Luffy’s drums of liberation. Regardless, what fans know is that Emet immediately recognized Luffy to be the next Joy Boy and decided to give up life for him by saving him on Egghead.
To do that, he unleashed this powerful bolt of Haki, which fans finally saw in action for the very first time. This bolt of Haki was stored in a knot on a rope inside Emet’s body. Once he pulled the knot, this Haki was unleashed and everyone in Egghead was hit with this powerful ability. This might be confusing to some fans, but it isn’t something that Oda just created out of nowhere.
Moments before the timeskip of One Piece, fans got to see a similar ability being utilized on Weatheria, a Sky Island where weather science was studied. For those who don’t remember, Nami was sent to this island by Bartholomew Kuma and she studied the art of weather science there with Haredes. He taught her about the wind knot, which essentially stored energy inside of it. The more knots he tugged open, the stronger the winds became. It is highly likely that Joy Boy used a similar concept, especially knowing that he came from a technologically advanced kingdom that far surpasses even Vegapunk’s knowledge. This means that the knot he used was of a similar type that fans have already seen, and it allowed him to store power inside of Emet.
The Strength Of Joy Boy’s Haki Was Truly Immense
Revealed In Chapter 1122
Split The Skies Alone
One Piece chapter 1122 gave fans a proper glimpse of Joy Boy’s incredible Haki. Upon hearing that Luffy wanted to become the Pirate King and that he was a member of the D family, Emet knew what to do. He pulled on the rope inside of him and undid the knot, which unleashed Joy Boy’s strongest Haki all over Egghead Island. This Haki was such that Marines started fainting left right and center, even though Egghead is absolutely massive.
In fact, this Haki actually split in the skies above Egghead all by itself. Usually, two powerful individuals need to come head-to-head in order to have a Haki clash and split the skies. The fact is that Joy Boy is the very first person to split the skies using his own Haki, and that just goes to show that he is in a league of his own.
This Haki caused great devastation on Egghead, and essentially, it confirmed Joy Boy to be the strongest character in all of One Piece that fans have seen so far. The strength of his Haki surpasses that of the Yonko, and even the likes of Roger. Even the Haki of the Five Elders isn’t comparable to that of Joy Boy, and fans now know that there is a new strongest character in the series.
The Effects Of Joy Boy’s Haki On The Gorosei And Imu
Joy Boy’s Haki Was Shown To Have Devastating Effects On The Elders
The most surprising part of One Piece Chapter 1122 came when Joy Boy’s Haki hit the Five Elders. Much to the surprise of the fans, they were forced out of their Yokai transformations after being hit by this powerful wave of Haki. This is very surprising to the fans, given that Luffy is a user of powerful Conqueror’s Haki as well. Although he did not use this power extensively against the Elders, the fact is that only Joy Boy was able to do this and forced him out of their forms. This essentially means that Luffy needs to train incredibly hard to get his Haki on the same level as that of Joy Boy if he is to stand a chance against the likes of the Elders and Imu.
Not only were they forced out of their forms, but at the same time, they were sent back to Marijoa, which meant that the ability that Saturn used to summon them was canceled out by Joy Boy’s Haki. Because of that, Saturn was the only one who remained on Egghead Island in front of Emet’s body, which was losing life by the second. In the end, fans got to see Emet reminisce about his time with Joy Boy before finally closing his eyes forever. With that, it seems that Egghead Island has come to an end, with loads of information being delivered to the fans through Vegapunk’s message, which has now officially ended, and at the same time, delivering a very strong emotional punch through Emet and Joy Boy’s small flashback.
