Why don’t they build this bridge in a straight line to save costs and reduce travel time instead of building it in a circle?

The Laguna Garzon Bridge in Uruguay is literally impossible to drive straight on. This is a very unique circular bridge in the world.

This strange construction was designed by Rafael Viñoly. The Laguna Garzon Bridge was designed with a unique idea: to help drivers and residents slow down when driving to enjoy the beauty of the lake.

Before the architectural firm started working on it, the only way for tourists to get to Laguna Garzon was by ferry. Each car took turns boarding the ferry and then going to the other side.

The bridge is divided into two halves and is a one-way street. They come together at the end to lead to the other side. Due to its special design, drivers are required to slow down when going on the bridge. This is the point that the engineers calculated to help people stay safe and enjoy the beauty of the unique bridge.
