Mercedes Faces Potential Heavy Penalty from FIA After Singapore GP: The Shocking Reason Fans Didn’t See Coming!

Mercedes could be facing a significant penalty from the FIA following the Singapore Grand Prix, leaving fans in disbelief. The unexpected issue revolves around both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell missing their post-race media obligations after the grueling race. The intense heat and humidity of Singapore’s Marina Bay street circuit led to both drivers suffering from “overheating,” which forced them to skip interviews—a requirement by FIA regulations.

Team principal Toto Wolff revealed that both Hamilton and Russell were struggling physically after the race, with Russell even describing the car as feeling “like a sauna” over team radio. Mercedes quickly acted by having both drivers undergo recovery procedures, including ice baths, which helped them regain stability. However, their absence from post-race interviews has raised concerns about FIA-imposed consequences, as such media duties are mandatory.

Despite securing fourth and sixth places respectively, it was a disappointing race for the Mercedes duo, who had started third and fourth on the grid. Wolff admitted that the performance of the W15 car was “painful” and left them trailing significantly behind the leaders. In addition, Mercedes’ strategy for Hamilton, which involved starting him on soft tires, backfired, further compounding their struggles.

Fans are now anxiously awaiting whether the FIA will take action against Mercedes for the breach of protocol, potentially resulting in fines or other penalties. This development adds yet another layer of drama to an already challenging season for the Silver Arrows.
