It (2017) is a supernatural horror film directed by Andy Muschietti, based on Stephen King’s iconic 1986 novel of the same name. Plot Summary:
Set in the fictional town of Derry, Maine, the film follows a group of seven outcast children who band together during the summer of 1989 to face an ancient evil lurking beneath their town. The movie opens with Georgie Denbrough (Jackson Robert Scott), a young boy, chasing his paper boat down a storm drain, only to encounter Pennywise the Dancing Clown (Bill SkarsgΓ₯rd), who lures him in before violently abducting him.
The loss of Georgie devastates his older brother, Bill (Jaeden Martell), who becomes obsessed with finding out what happened to him. Over time, Bill, along with his friendsβBen (Jeremy Ray Taylor), Beverly (Sophia Lillis), Richie (Finn Wolfhard), Mike (Chosen Jacobs), Eddie (Jack Dylan Grazer), and Stanley (Wyatt Oleff)βrealize that Georgie’s disappearance is just one of many in the town of Derry, and all of them have had disturbing encounters with Pennywise.
As they investigate, they learn that Pennywise has been terrorizing Derry for centuries, awakening every 27 years to feed on the fear of children. With no adults willing to believe or help them, the Losers’ Club take it upon themselves to confront Pennywise and end his reign of terror. Armed with their courage, friendship, and belief in each other, they descend into the sewers to face off against the entity in a thrilling and terrifying final battle.
